Puzzle Cache
Field Exercise

Too many of Frodo's
caches caches seem to start with these immortal lines:
-
The cache is not
at the posted coordinates.
-
Break the code and
find the cache.
-
Anything in or on
the cache page may or may not be useful
So come on down to
the Palmyra Nature Cove Park and join Frodo for a bring your own
breakfast event on the deck at the visitor's center. After
breakfast there will be a brief seminar on puzzle caches. We'll go
over the basics of puzzle solving, and then break into teams to
work on a puzzle that will be handed out at the seminar. The
puzzle will lead you to a temporary puzzle cache that will be
hidden somewhere in the park. You can also grill Frodo on
some of his puzzles. Hints, pointers and work-throughs can be had
for any Frodo puzzles.
The visitors center
will be open after the event. There are some very interesting
exhibits here on the local environment and wildlife. The
"falcon-cam" monitoring the peregrine falcon nest at the top of the
Tacony-Palmyra bridge is worth a peek. The center also has
exhibits on the bridge and its operations as well as dredging of
the river to keep the ports open.
P.S. - Finding the
event is your first puzzle - that is why this event has a 3 star
difficulty. It is quite tricky to get into the park so watch
the signs carefully and do not go over the bridge, unless of course
you are coming from Pennsylvania! For directions (spoilers)
go to the Palmyra Nature Cove
website.
NOTE FROM FRODO:
I regret that I will be unable to host the event as originally
planned and apologize for the late change. m_and_w, one of
PA's master puzzlers, has agreed to host the event in my
place. I will look into hosting a future puzzle themed event
after the dust settles so that you will have an opportunity to quiz
me on some of my puzzles in the near future. Please come to
the event and enjoy m_and_w's talk on puzzles as well as the
wonderful Palmyra Cove park.
Thanks to Math
Teacher who helped on planning this event and m_and_w for picking
up the hosting duties.
