Geocache Description:

This cache is on a remote island in Lake Superior. Please Do not attempt this cache without the proper training and experience. It is highly recommended to enter the island from the SE side and bushwack your way to the cache (unless you are a really good climber).

Wood Island is on the first line of defense against the fury of Superior. It is dwarfed by its big brother to the east, Grand Island. Together, they have suffered the ravages of the mighty lake and now wear the scars to prove it. Although Grand Island is by far the most scenic with towering cliffs, sea caves, and more, Wood Island is more remote and more difficult to reach and has awesome cliffs and a natural, unspoiled beauty.

I placed this cache during a kayaking trip around both islands. The cache site offers an awesome view of the surrounding area.

Please be careful. Lake Superior is very cold and can change rapidly. Parking, including overnight, is available at the Grand Island ferry lauch.
