Geocache Description:

This cache is located very near the historical church "Saint Andrew's by the Lake." The terrain is easy enough and may in fact be wheelchair accessable if you don't mind a few bumps.
This site has a beautiful view of Lake Saskatoon, so don't forget to bring the camera!

The cache is a small camo’d lock & lock and contains a log book, pencil and few small trading items.

In 1901 the Hudson Bay Co. set up a post on the shores of Lake Saskatoon, from this post the bustling community of Saskatoon Village was born. In its hey-day, Saskatoon Village was the largest community north of Edmonton, boasting several shops, cafés, and pool halls. In 1916 a new railway threaded its way through the Peace country, unfortunately bypassing the village. Being bypassed by the railway meant an early demise for many villages at that time. Today, Saint Andrew’s by the Lake is all that remains of this once vibrant community.

It has come to my attention that some people are driving right up to the cache instead of parking at the entrance as one would expect. If this continues I will remove the cache, please be conscientious cachers and respect this area.

Note: this is also a GeotourismCanada letterbox site.
