Geocache Description:

This is not an easy cache, the hike to the cache is Unnecessarily Nasty. Once you get to ground zero, finding the cache should be simple.

Cache is located in Pennsylvania State Game Land 106. It is placed at a location near a beautiful stream named Rattling Run, but nowhere near a trail. We placed the cache at the nastiest location in the area. Three or four-tenths of a mile north of Rattling Run there is the Weiser Trail, about seven-tenths of a mile south is the Appalachian Trail. Rattling Run is roughly parallel to both these trails.

There are several ways to get to ground zero, all of them nasty. I will describe the route we took to hide the cache.
1. Parked the car at the Hamburg Reservoir Parking. (N40°35.012 W75°56.508)
2. Using the Appalachian Trail and a cross trail we headed to Rattling Run downstream of cache location (N40°35.553 W75°59.586)
3. Followed Rattling Run upstream to Stephanie Spring (N40°36.115 W75°57.611). Approximately half way up we hid a cache.
4. Proceeded on the Stephanie Spring Trail and existing roads back to parking. Total distance hiked was over 8 miles.
5. Note that the stream bed is lined with hemlocks and rhododendrons. GPS reception is not always good. The cache location is mainly hemlocks.

Cache is an ammo can hid inside a hollow tree. It is easily visible.
