Geocache Description:

This cache is located just off the Dozer Line put in during the Battlement Creek Fire of 1976. The cache is located approximately .2 mile up hill from the cattleguard. The elevation gain is about 335 feet. Take your time, take a few breaks and the cache site will be worth it! Bring water and a snack, then sit and rest. Listen to the winds, watch the circling birds and with luck you’ll see the native wildlife running through the oak brush.

The Dozer Line was carved into the ridgeline during the Battlement Creek Fire of 1976. It was the BLM’s last line of defense in order to stop the up drainage advance of the fire. Had it jumped this line, it would have continued up the drainage to the Rulison Project (see cache GC16WTV). The cache is a mini-scale drill rig, typical of those drilling throughout Garfield County. Feel free to touch the cache, take pictures, but you don’t need to look in the dog house.

The cache was placed on Memorial Day 2008 and is dedicated to all the veterans who have died and those currently serving this great country. JSB are the initials of my oldest son who is currently serving in the United States Navy. God bless this great country, protect all those that serve and bring them all home soon.

The cache is a Nalgene bottle, filled will several trading items. It can be found by moving the extra well pipe to the side and pulling up the downhole well pipe.

Congratulations to the go pokes for the FTF :0)
