This is a seed from Giz's Seed Cache GCR17Y.

When Walloon Belgian immigrants came to this country, they brought with them several customs which had been celebrated for over a hundred years. The most popular one was the belgian "Kermiss". The Walloon word Kermiss comes from Kirk-Messe, which means 'church mass', and it originated in medieval times as an annual celebration commemorating the anniversary of the dedication of the church. After the harvesting was complete, the people in belgium would attend Mass and give thanks to the Lord for a bountiful harvest. This was followed by feasting and dancing which usually lasted for three days. Door, Kewaunee and Brown counties have the largest rural settlement of Belgians in the United States. Nowadays, the Brussels Kermiss occurs on the first weekend of September. Stop and enjoy some original Belgian foods in Brussels during this yearly celebration.

Booyah - a soup containing chicken, ox-tail, and a variety of fresh vegetables.
Trippe - a type of sausage made with pork and cabbage.
Jutte (or Jut) - a dinner of pork, potatoes, and cabbage cooked together.
Geperste Kop (or head cheese) which is not cheese but the renderings from a pig's head, ears, and stomach made into a jelly-like product.

This cache will bring you to a memorial I think you will enjoy. Cache is not located on or connected to any grave site or marker. Please be respectful of the cemetery grounds and visitors.
