WHERE? Barboursville Community Park WHEN? Sunday, June 29 at 1:00
p.m. The coordinates are for picnic shelter #5. There's a
playground next to the shelter, and the restrooms are nearby. This
is a family-friendly event, so make sure you bring all of your
little cachers.
Get ready for the 2008 Chicken Run! OK, it’s actually a Poker Run, but doesn’t a Chicken Run sound like much more fun? Here’s the gist of it: We will place 7–10 temporary caches around Barboursville Park. You an/or your team will visit each cache and collect a playing card. The cards will be concealed in individual envelopes, so all you’ll have to do is reach in and grab one. Once you have visited all of the caches, you will return to the home base and assemble your best hand. The best hand wins. There will be some
special swag placed in the caches that can be traded in for extra cards. Although this isn’t a race, each cache will have a FTF prize of some sort.
Once you arrive at the picnic shelter, you may sign in, fill in a name tag, and mingle around until 1:30. This is when everybody will receive a sheet of coordinates for all caches. We will have a countdown, and then everyone can start running around the park like a bunch of crazed chickens. The hunt may take up to three hours – this is a big park, and we plan on using all of it.
This will not be a cookout, but it will be potluck. Please let us know if you plan on bringing anything. What we’ll probably need the most is ice, drinks, and large coolers. We will keep an updated "pledge" list on this page.

*UPDATE*
6/1/08: Since it will probably be a hot afternoon, let's try and keep the food list to stuff that won't spoil from the heat, like fruit, chips, cookies, etc.
