Geocache Description:

The Culprit - Feel the Burn! is an AHTITOT cache (A Hot Time In The Old Town). It has a slightly different name than the other AHTITOT caches because this is the origin of the May 22, 2008 Cool Fire. An artifact relating to the broken power line which was the cause of the fire is next to the cache. Please leave the artifact with the cache.

The second part of the name is a little play on words. The burn refers to the fire... and to your legs as you journey to the cache site.

The cache is in the CCL. Closest parking is at the Fire Station in Cool. Thank a firefighter for saving most of the CCL from this wildfire. They did a wonderful job! The find is easy... as we did not want anyone who got this far to get a DNF.

The terrain varies from a 1.5 to an almost 4. Most of the hike is not strenuous at all. A portion of the hike is steep... the terrain level depends on the direction you access the cache. If you come from the direction of AHTITOT #2... then terrain is steep, but most people should be able to get there without incident. If you come from the direction of AHTITOT #1... then expect one small section of very steep trail - you will need to use your hands, and a longer section of steep trail.

If you go to the cache before you read this description... then good luck... and either way out is challenging, but an hour later you feel great that you did it! Don't let this scare you away. Just take water and don't rush it. We did the hike just fine... and we're not in the best shape... but we did have shoes with good tread.

Please let us know if our coordinates are off - and how your hike went.
