Driver's Rest Traditional Cache
chartmaker: Thanks to JETMD1967 for confirming the death of Driver's Rest. Archiving is definitely required. Took a look at the site early this morning. No trees (or geocaches) left on this lot. I truly appreciate JETMD1967 providing a photo of the murder scene. The geocache was murdered in the desire for progress; but will those visiting this site in the future have as much fun as those who stopped by to seek a geocache. I liked the thought that JETMD1967 shared in that this geocache shall live on among the mulch to be placed at a future location. This geocache served us well. It shall be remembered. The area sure looks different without the trees, not near as tranquil even if the aircraft destined to and from DTW let you know the real world was not far from here.

Located near hotels and a few fast food restaurants on Merriman Road, close to Detroit Metro Airport in a lightly wooded area. A fairly easy walk to the cache.
Cache container has been changed to a 35mm film cannister from a small Rubbermaid container due to the potential for trees in the area to be felled and removed. This will allow geocachers to continue to log the cache find but unfortunately the cache is currently not functional as a place to drop/retrieve travel bugs. An alternative geocache in the area to place travel bugs is Down on the Farm Airport Travel Bug Lodge located close south of this geocache. Cache is all season friendly.
Please ensure that when replacing the cache to its hiding spot that the next geocacher is able to retrieve the cache in order to sign the log. Placing the cache at the wrong spot may make it difficult to retrieve the container.
Cache is also in a good place for plane watching on arrivals and departures; as well as waiting for arriving passengers needing pick up at the airport.
This is not meant to be a difficult find.
