Geocache Description:

For the Birds, El Dorado Park Series Cache. Vehicle entry fee required. Category = education

Great blue herons are large native herons, standing 3-4’ tall. These are fishing birds that can be typically seen at the shore of freshwater and saltwater areas nationwide. It’s easy to find great blue heron nests, as they are huge and very high up in trees.

These animals are by the far the tallest birds you’ll see at El Dorado Park. They are blue-grey with white heads with a black “headband” of feathers. They have large beaks that are great at catching fish up to 1’ long. They are usually found along, often times away from water (as pictured) just walking around. Males and females look alike.
