Geocache Description:

Hike Lily Mountain!

Hike 1.7 miles from the Lily Mountain Trailhead to reach the summit of Lily Mountain. The hike is mostly below treeline and involves quite a bit of up-and-down. There is a rock scramble at the end of the hike to reach the top. The ideal path is marked by cairns. As you approach the summit there will be a "V" opening in the rocks. Go left and climb about 10 more feet to the top. A good view of Longs Peak is available to the south from the summit. Use caution with kids on the top as there are cliff edges on most sides.
It's a great first peak for any beginner, and I think it's one you can take your kids on, although you'll have to use your best judgment. I hiked this with my 3 and 5 year old and had to help my 3 year old up the last portion to the summit.

Dogs allowed on leash

How to get there

From Estes Park travel south on Highway 7 (Peak to Peak Scenic Byway). About 6 miles from Estes Park there is a small pull off on the west side of the road at the trailhead.

Cache Information

Cache is located just prior to the summit.
