Geocache Description:

A rewarding walk up the tourist path of Cairnsmore of Fleet in the Galloway Hills. At 711m the hill dominates the skyline from Newton Stewart; the path from the car park at Cairnsmore Estate is clearly defined. The view from ground zero south-west is over Crammery Hill and the Cree Estuary.

The view north from the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet

For details of a suitable walk route to this cache visit the Cairnsmore of Fleet Walk Route on the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team and Newton Stewart WalkFest combined WalkBank miniweb. You will find a detailed walk route with maps, GPS download and much more.

A visit to this cache could easily be combined with GC11YDF Cairnsmore Caves - Billy Marshall's Cave by Headie D.

The location of the cache is an ideal rest stop for any ascent of this fine hill. If you continue to the summit, and it is assumed many will do so, the views over the more northerly Galloway Hills - The Merrick, the Rhinns of Kells etc are stunning - on a good day! See the pictures for yourself.
