Geocache Description:


La demeure de Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur, Marquis de Rochambeau, commandant les troupes françaises engagées, avec celles de Mr de Lafayette, aux côtés de Georges Washington, dans la bataille victorieuse et décisive de Yorktown, lors de la guerre d’indépendance américaine.
Ce grand militaire est extrêmement connu aux USA, et la région de Vendôme reçoit chaque année la visite de nombreux américains.
Le château appartient à la famille de l’illustre maréchal. Il est privé, mais classé aux monuments historiques, et est donc visitable lors des Journées du Patrimoine, en septembre de chaque année.
Le hameau, avec ses maisons anciennes, serré entre le coteau calcaire creusé de caves (une chapelle troglodyte a été creusée dans l’enceinte du château) et le Loir, est typique de la région.
Il y a deux caches à découvrir, la première contenant les coordonnées de la cache principale.

The remains of Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, Marquis de Rochambeau, commander of French troops engaged with those of Mr. de Lafayette, alongside George Washington in the victorious and decisive battle of Yorktown, during the war of independence American.
This large military is extremely experienced in the USA and the region receives annually Vendôme view many Americans.
The castle belongs to the family of the illustrious marshal, is private, but classified as historical monuments, is visited at Heritage Days in September each year.
The hamlet, with its old houses, clamped between the slope carved limestone caves (a chapel troglodyte was dug inside the castle) and the Loir, is typical of the region.
There are two caches discovered, the first containing the coordinates of the cache Main.
