Park at the lay-by. Watch out for fast cars! Cross the field, pass by the old limestone quarries, and head into the woods. You can't miss the bridge.
Various ways to get to this cache. An exceptionally ornate Scottish bridge dominates the site - thistles, leaves, triangular motifs, vermiculate ashlar (go on, look it up) etc.
Let me (do you have a choice) revert to childhood poetry -
"They closed the road through the woods 70 years ago,
Weather and rain have removed it again,
And now you would never know that their had once been a road through the woods before they planted the trees.
Yet, when the night air cools over the trout ringed pools,
Where the otter whistles her mate,
You can hear the beat of a horses feet,
And the swish of a skirt in the dew,
As if they always knew that their had been a road through the woods,
Before they planted the trees."
Probably a bit wrong and goodness knows who by.
A road ran under this bridge from Auchenharvie Castle (see Wiki article) and crossed the Lugton Water to Megswells Farm by a ford.
I have cut back some trees to make the bridge more visible - take a camera.
Enjoy this place, it's rather special.
