Geocache Description:

This is a regular sized cache situated a few metres off the public footpath through Pool Bank Quarries.

Pool Bank Quarries were a number of quarries located in the vicinity of Pool Bank.  They were known to be working as early as 1851 and continued to supply building stone to Leeds after the 1860's.One place the stone from these quarries was used was the High Royds hospital in Menston in 1887.  The Whittaker Brothers, the contractors chosen to build the hospital, built their own railway spur to transport the stone.  The remnants of which can still be seen between the Arthington Junction and the main line at Menston.

This cache would make a nice additional find after "Avenue des Hirondelles", as the public footpath runs all the way up Pool Bank.  You will notice the remains of the quarries as you walk up the footpath.

The cache is a regular plastic container which initially contained -

football card
sheriff's badge
smiley face badge
mini highlighter pen
mirror
Yu Gi Oh card
conker
mini stapler
Beijing 08 Olympic Travel Bug XNN7XV
