"The Thing"
EZ offroad parking, on level terrain, but I'm sure the usual
summertime "creepy crawlies" are probably about.
What the devil is this thing, anyway?? Some think perhaps it is
the remains of a Civil War Era steamship which wrecked and became
landlocked as the river later changed course. Others think maybe it
is a missile launch site, leftover from the Cold War Era. There are
occasional reports of dim flashing lights here, and at other times
a low moan can be heard. I don't know, but a strong fence has been
installed at hopefully a safe distance, and I wouldn't chance
getting any closer.
Interestingly, there is also a rumor that a bison has been spotted
in this area, lately. He is reported to be a little larger than the
average bison, but, trackers say that he usually stays well
undercover and many never see him, at all. Be very stealthy when
you are here, and maybe you can sneak up on him. Please let me know
if you have any success.
The usual precautions apply here. Watch for muggles, be safe, and
carefully replace the cache as found. Above all, don't panic and
drop it anywhere that something from THE THING might grab it.
