A themed cache in a great location for any plane spotting cachers - easily found but great stealth needed to retrieve it. The cache is FLYING THEMED so please only swap items that fly or move through the air.
A rough road leads to Hull Aero Clubâs Beverley (Linley Hill) airfield, otherwise known by tongue in cheek locals as Leven International airport.
Situated in the heart of the East Yorkshire countryside, Hull Aero Club was founded in 1930 during the golden age of flying. The club is proud of it's flying heritage stretching back over 70 years, during which time it can boast hosting such famous club members as the legendary 'Ginger' Lacey and pioneer aviator 'Amy Johnson'. For more information go to www.hullaeroclub.co.uk.
If you time it right you can see plenty of aircraft coming and going, with the airfield being open every day bar Mondays. When we were checking out the area we saw five planes, two micro-lights and a helicopter land and the members could not have been more welcoming to the young BL team members. Please remember this is a working airfield and you should NOT go onto the landing strip or near any aircraft.
For a circular walk, head down the track that goes south west from the airfield entrance until you meet the canal and then stay on the North Bank heading east back to Leven to visit jar44aâs Far Fox Aquaduct cache and John Steadâs Leven Canal cache.
Original Cache Contents included:
Toy helicopter, Butterfly Trolley Token, Butterfly rubber, Thunderbirds Toy, Parachute Man, Boomerang TB & Mr BL's newly released Maggie the Mother-in-Law TB (yes it can fly!) plus FTF certificate.
