Geocache Description:

This is a micro in an unusual container. Bring a pencil to sign the log.

You're at the Longino House. This is the former home of Mississippi Governor Andrew H. Longino who served as legislator, judge and county official. He was Governor 1901-1904 and oversaw the new Capitol Building being erected. The house was built in 1884, just 2 years after a massive tornado wiped out the town. In addition to the new Capitol being built during his term, the primary election law was passed, the Dept. of Archives and History and the State Penal Farm were established. The public school system was also improved during his tenure.
