A nice location overlooking the Chicago River. This stretch of riverbank (east side) from Berteau to Montrose has been wonderfully restored. Enjoy the walk. Terrain is fairly easy if you stay on the path.
The riverbank from Berteau to Montrose has been wonderfully restored over the past years by the hard work of local residents in the North Center/Lincoln Square neighborhoods. It has been planted with native prairie plants and has had nice paths laid out. People walk, observe, fish and canoe here. Don't forget to feed the ducks. Thanks to all who created this nice little oasis!
This cache was placed as part of the Honoring the Chicago River series. Once known for its pollution, the Chicago River has improved over the past 30 years, due in large part to the hard work of local residents. Today it is coming back to life, with an increasing amount of animals and native plants. In addition, the city plans to create a network of linked river walks to allow people to walk much of the length of the River. We hope you will stop to take a look at the Chicago River and to help out by performing CITO if necessary.
The cache is a small container, big enough for small trade items and travelers. Please replace exactly as found to ensure its survival.
Parking close may be a problem. There is usually a little parking on Berteau right by the river. This is a good place to get on the paths and go hunting.
Finally, this is a nice residential area and some of paths go close to houses, so please respect the local residents during your caching. Have fun!
