Geocache Description:

You will need to visit the following sites in Coleraine to locate the numbers needed for the final cache latitude and longitude. Each of these locations has a plaque with information in front of it.

Longyear Park, The Stone Church, The Log Church, The Oliver Iron Mining Office Building, and the original site of the Ski Jump in Coleraine.

Most are located near Longyear Park.

The cache is located at the following longitude and latitude:

N47 16.abc W093 25.def

Visit the Log Church. Find the last digit of the year that this church was built. This digit will replace “a” in the latitude.

Visit the Stone Church. Find the number referred to in the area the stone was gathered from to build the church. This digit will be “b” in the latitude.

Visit the original site of the Ski Jump. Find the last digit of the year it was built to host the National Championships. This digit will be “c” in the latitude.

Visit Longyear Park. There is a monument dedicated to The Birthplace of Iron Ore Beneficiation in Minnesota. On this plaque find the first digit of the number of tons of ore removed by the year 1957. This digit will be “d” in the longitude.

Visit the Carnegie Library. Find the third digit of the year a fireplace was added to the basement. This digit will be “e” in the longitude.

Visit the Oliver Iron Mining Office Building. It is under new ownership, take the three digits in the new owners name and add them together. Take the last digit of this number and then take the last two digits of the address and add them to the first number. The total will be the digit for “f” in the longitude.

GPS signals at the final cache location are difficult, so be prepared to have an interesting search for the cache. Mosquitos are thick, so bring dope.

Good luck and enjoy the history.
