I have set the terrain rating to reflect the difficulty of the
overall series, and not for each individual cache. Some can be done
as dashes; however I think the overall state of the footpaths (what
footpaths?) warrants the terrain setting I have given the series as
a whole. There is a small amount of road walking but, apart from
the last few hundred yards from 17-18, most are quiet lanes.
The overall route is around 9 miles. The terrain is flat but
very overgrown for a large part of the route. I do mean
overgrown! Most of the footpaths are poorly signed, some are under
water, and some plainly just don't exist!
I recommend the series is not undertaken at night, as I think
some parts would be too dangerous. Wear long trousers, take a
whacking stick (not for the kids!) and wear (or carry) waterproof
boots.
When I set the caches I was using active mapping on my PDA. I went
wrong many times. So please do at least take an OS map and allow
plenty of time for completion. It will probably take you longer
than you estimate.
