Listed Ghost Town.
Nice place to grab something cold to drink and hot to eat during open hours. Check out the cast of the Mountain Lions paw that was taken nearby while inside.
Keighley was platted in August,1880 and named after the man who invented the "Keeley Cure", a method of curing drunkards. Once just a small settlement of about 30 people, it grew to a population of about 500 people by 1926. Looking at it now, it is hard to believe that lumberyards, grocery stores, barber shops, garages, oil supply houses, hardware, an exclusive mens furnishing store, a general store, a grain elevator, cafes and a 40-room hotel once filled the streets here. There was even a big gasoline plant to the West. Keighley had one of the finest brick school buildings in the county. By 1934 the town and most everything in it was gone. Amazing.
This cache is near the location of the Keighley Barn, that was once used as a dance hall and is now gone.
Trucker friendly cache with plenty of parking. Easy in easy out.
Please trade fairly. If people don't play fair, I won't hide any more that will be open for everyone to find. I am tired of finding trash and junk as the only trade items in caches. Think about what you might like to find (or not to find) and let that be your guide.
Have fun and enjoy the countryside.
The property owner has given me permission to place this cache, but PLEASE do not climb the tower, it is OFF LIMITS.
