I have visited the little private camp at the bottom of the hill over the years and when I had time would walk up Grouse Ridge. It's been interesting to be shocked when it was clear-cut and then to watch how the trees grow back up. There were times when you could get vistas of Mt Si and Tenerife across the valley. Now you can get peak-a-boo sightings if you look for it.
Park at the Mailbox Peak trailhead and walk up the old road past the trail up. It's little more than a mile away.
There were signs of bear today - many trees had their bark striped off all along the road.
I saw an old, huge stump about 60 feet away. Along side a stream was gurgling away and the underbrush was pretty tame. It was a nice place to contemplate the woods. Enjoy!
