A modest walk near Cannon Hall, Cawthorne.
Although this cache could be done in isolation, it was placed with the intention of it being done in conjuction with the nearby "Ducktails" & "Jewel in Barnsleys Crown" caches to create an approx 4.5 mile circular walk in the Cawthorne/High Hoyland area.
Suggested parking would be at Cannon Hall Pay & Display to start the walk with "Ducktails" & then following the signed foothpath towards Kexbrough before moving across to "Jewel in Barnsleys Crown". Alternatively you may try your luck at a parking space in Cawthorne Village (eg by the church) to start the circular with "Jewels".
If planning to to this cache as a stand-alone, then there is a small pull-in for 1-2 cars at High Hoyland right by waypoint 3 which may suit (if parking here, backtrack up the High Hoyland Lane first to pick up the path at High Hoyland for Micros 1 & 2)
The co-ordinates listed are not the final cache, but it is within 2 miles of the listed co-ordinates.
You will need to find 2 micros & visit a 3rd waypoint to obtain the location of the main cache which is a small clip lock box suitable for small swaps / coins only.
Micro 1 is located at N 53° 34.860 W 001° 34.973
Micro 2 is located at N 53° 34.961 W 001° 35.432
Waypoint 3 is located at N 53° 34.837 W 001° 35.750
At the third waypoint look carefully for the year of the snake. Add the 4 digits together to make a 2 digit number & add this number to both the Northings & the Westings already obtained from micros 1 & 2 to find the final cache.
All walking is on marked paths which includes a right of way though a farm.
There are no severe climbs involved but some of the paths can be very muddy in places so please wear appropriate footwear. This is not one for trainers & not advisable with buggys / pushchairs.
