About the film:
THE LONELY GUY, made in 1984, was a vehicle film for the always
funny Steve Martin. In this one, Martin plays a shy man named Larry
Hubbard who comes home to find his girlfriend in bed with another
man. He is then forced to begin a new life as single man. A lonely
guy. He soon discovers that he is not alone in the big, big world
of being lonely. As he and his close friend (played with melancholy
precision by Charles Grodin)learn, there are ways to combat and
survive being a Lonely Guy. The screenplay for the film was written
by Broadway comedy king Neil Simon.
