Geocache Description:

Not much history is known on the house itself and the years have taken a toll. It was constructed in about 1845 and is a unique two-story log house that contained a basement and a birthing room. Please do not try to enter the house.

The house and property were donated by Bertha Ewing in memory of Albert Ewing.

In 1894, the town of Kunkle was destroyed by a tornado and only a few homes remain today. However, the Jacob Young Homestead is still standing and there are hopes that it will be restored.

We hope that you will enjoy the history of this place as you hunt the cache.

Congrats to buteo for being the second FTF at this location, and the first for our cache!

Thanks to pioneer brew crew for making this one their very first geo-find!
