Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the old Lindsay, Bobcaygeon, & Pontypool Railroad. Parking can be found at the trail entrance on Fieldside Rd., just off Cheesefactory Rd. Please do not drive on these trails as it will attract attention to the cache area. Do not pull over into the grass area as there is a deep ditch along the edge of the road

In 1890, Bobcaygeon's predominant lumber business begun by Mossom Boyd in 1846, and carried on by his sons, obtained a charter for the Lindsay, Bobcaygeon, & Pontypool Railway (LB&P). Construction began in 1901 and the line was opened in 1904. It branched off north at Burketon (west of Pontypool) on the CPR's O&Q line. The GTR attempted to block its entry into Lindsay by construction of the "Santiago" sidings, but the LB&P ducked under the GTR at the Scugog River bridge, and followed the east bank of the river to a station on the west side of Caroline St. The original segment between Burketon Jct., Nestleton, Lakeview and Lindsay Jct. was abandoned in 1932. The last train to Bobcaygeon was in 1957, and the Bobcaygeon branch was abandoned altogether in 1961.
The top picture is Bobcaygeon Station & the bottom one is Dunsford Station. Caution. When parking, I suggest you pull into the trail entrance. The banks are very steep and they begin where the asphalt ends. There is not much room for error here.
