Geocache Description:

This is a quick cache located at a pulloff which provides river access. There is no need to drive below the bridge to find this cache; in fact, I wouldn't recommend doing so unless you have a 4WD vehicle (the road was pretty washed out when I visited).

Before the freeway was built this bridge carried highway 78 across the Tippah River. When the new controlled-access highway opened about a mile to the north, it was given the US 78 designation while existing 2-lane sections were renumbered as MS highway 178. The freeway parallels the existing highway all the way across the state of Mississippi. Within the next few years, the freeway will be renumbered as interstate 22.
