Page co-ordinates will take you to the front gate
of Crombie Country Park.
This is the final cache in the series of child
friendly caches that Pooh and Friends have set around Crombie
Country Park. All the caches are along the marked trails in the
park. The total distance walked to find all the caches and bonus is
approx 3.5 miles which we know can be a long way for small children
so Pooh Bear has asked his friends to leave little presents in the
smaller caches to help encourage them to do the whole walk (no
swaps required - please let us know when they need refilled). The
route round the caches is buggyable!
EACH CACHE
CONTAINS A WINNIE THE POOH THEMED STAMP PAD AND INKPAD. THESE STAY
WITH THE CACHE - THEY ARE NOT SWAPS

Crombie reservoir was built 1866 to increase the
water supply to Dundee and Angus after it was found that the nearby
Monikie reservoir could not keep up with the demand. Almost as soon
as it was completed it was found that the water supply was still
inadequate and work started on the Lintrathen scheme in Glen Isla
which is still the principal supply of Dundee and a large part of
Angus. Crombie was last used to supply water (to Carnoustie) in
1981. In 1983 Crombie Country park was opened.
Crombie consists of 102 hectares made up of Crombie
Loch as well as coniferous and broadleaf woodlands. There is lots
of wildlife to be seen. Red squirrels, roe deer, fox, woodpeckers,
goldcrest, coal tits etc all inhabit the woodlands and the loch is
home to swans, ducks, heron and grebes. The park has an
orienteering course as well as a junior course and an animalteering
course for the younger children. Free maps and instructions are
available at the Ranger Centre. At the ranger centre you can also
pick up a map of the trails which may be useful in completing this
set of caches. The marked trails have several interpretation boards
dotted around giving lots of information on the history and
wildlife of the area.
Parking for Crombie Country Park is £2 per
day.
We recommend that you do the caches in order
Piglet,
Wol ,
Rabbit,
Kanga & Roo,
Eeyore then
Tigger so you can pick up a map at the ranger station after
doing the first cache.
