On an island in the middle of the Saluda
Everyone takes the plunge at one point or another. For some, it's buying that new kayak you've been wanting. For others, it's buying that vet clinic you've had your eye on. For some, it's literally taking a plunge into the cold Saluda River (that's where the Micro comes in).
As we headed out for an afternoon paddle, we decided we'd also place a cache so the rest of you can enjoy the area as much as we did.
The cache is a medium lock-n-lock located on an island just upstream from the James Metts Boat Landing. Do not try to reach it via land, the property on both sides is private.
As you head for this one on the tranquil waters, think of a plunge you'd like to take. We'd love to know about it, if you'd like to post it in your logs (and if you follow through, we'd love a later note to know that you did.)
Either way, enjoy the cache and stay safe on the water! When we placed the cache, water levels were very low and it was a nice paddle. HOWEVER, AT TIMES WATER IS RELEASED UPSTREAM AND THE LEVELS RISE RAPIDLY. If it looks like you are going to have to paddle ragin' rapids, save it for another day. It is a short paddle, but it is upstream. It would not be a fun paddle and potentially dangerous if you are not an experienced kayaker. We don't want you to get hurt.
