Bonanza is situated in
Colorado's spectacular San Luis Valley, an area blessed with
rich mining history and great natural beauty. Originally named
Bonanza City, the town was established in 1881 by prospectors
hoping to mine a fortune in gold and silver from the surrounding
hills. Today Bonanza is Colorado's smallest incorporated town
with a handful of year-round residents and a population that can
hit double-digits during the Summer months!
We visited Bonanza while
ATVing and learn about all the mines in the area. We noticed that
there were no caches close, so we placed a (large pill bottle) in
the area.
