Less than half an inch long, the red ant is actually rust colored., or brownish black. It has six legs, and on its head, two crooked antennae., which are used to smell and to touch. The red ant lives in groups, or colonies, mostly in wooden areas, where it builds small nests made from bits of leaves, twigs, and stems.
