Geocache Description:

Posted coordinates will take you to parking, not the cache. This is the Final Stage of The Parvin Green Trail Tree Series. In order to obtain this cache you must find the four other trees/caches located along the 3 mile green trail at Parvin State Park. A Pitch Pine tree hides this ammo box filled with goodies an UNACTIVATED Walk With Nature geocoin for FTF.

Parvin State Park is home to over 50 species of trees. Dragonflymommom and RumGirl wanted to educate themselves and others on the flora and fauna that New Jersey has to offer. This series features five trees that are abundant in the area:
White Oak
Blueberry
Cedar
Mountain Laurel
Pitch Pine
Your best bet is to start out at the Second landing parking area and follow the green trail signs along the park. Park maps are available at the park office near the beach access. This trail is 3 miles long on hardpacked dirt and is bikable and dog friendly. Each of the five caches along the trail contain pieces of coordinates to this cache.

Pitch pine is an evergreen tree that prefers sandy soil and terrain. In the past, pitch pine was a major source of pitch and timber for ship building, mine timbers, and railroad ties, because the wood's high resin content preserves it from decay. The wood of Pitch Pine was also used for building radio towers in Germany. Today Pitch Pine is used mainly for rough construction, pulp, crating, and fuel. It ain't easy being green!

We would like to thank Bubblerock for inspiring us to do an educational nature cache series. We would like to thank Mr. Taylor, a ranger at parvin who knows all 50 species of trees here. He helped us identify a few of them for this series. Mr. Taylor has spent most of his life exploring and working at Parvin State Park. Thanks for visiting Parvin and it's wonderful wildlife. I hope you found this series fun and educational.

UPDATE Dec. 23rd, 2008: Holly Jolly Micro, which was part of this series has been muggled too many times. I archived Holly Jolly and am giving out the coords to It Aint Easy.. that were in Holly Jolly which were 39 30. Thanks and my sincere apologies to those who had so many problems with that cache.
