GSS stands for Gas Saving Series. The series was started by Trail Bandit Nick in order to allow cachers to come to an area that has several cache placements near by to save on having to spend a bunch of money to get from cache to cache. A cell of 5 or 6 caches in 1 area is how the series works, hey sometime even more! These caches are designed to run for 90 days (GC minimum) after that look for new GSS caches in the area.
This GSS takes place in Budd Park in Clinton Township. The park runs along the Clinton River and offers two playgrounds, several soccer fields, two sand volleyball courts and access to the river for canoeing and kayaking. It is a great place to eat lunch, catch a nap or grab some caches. The park has many burrowing animals so watch your step. Budd Park closes at dusk or 9 pm - please observe park hours.
Rush and the first stage for Hey Buddy are located in the park. Seek Higher Ground and Fall Brochure (2005) are caches located along the nature trail that runs to Canal Park. Inside Canal Park are Eye To Eye, Recreation 07 and Clinton River Watershed – Canal Park.
The Budd Park Gas Saver Series consists of 5 caches including two multi-caches and puzzle. At the posted Coords you will find a soccer goal post with a letter and two numbers on the cross bar. Take the number that correspondes to the letter and add it to the other two INDIVIDUAL numbers. ( ## + # + # = ##)
Add that number to 35.325 to get the final North coord and subtract that number from 55.336 to get the final West coord.
