Chain Lake Watershed
The need for a safe, reliable water supply was crucial after many infectious epidemics in Halifax. In 1844, civic-minded businessmen formed the Halifax Water Company. Civil Engineer Charles Fairbanks was hired to survey the lakes around the town and his plans were used by New York engineer John Jarvis to propose the Long Lake-Chain Lakes water supply.
Chain Lake & Long Lake watersheds were identified to supply the water.
There is a short bushwack to reach the cache. Notice the forest succession. Hard wood stand of Birch ,Maple and Oak with softwoods starting to grow ,ready to take thier turn.
The cache is located under a Spruce with a broken top. When placed had a 'Chain ' theme and a Tim's on us for a FTF.
