Pearl Lake is a beauty that not many folks visit. It is also
very remote and in relative close proximity to private property
which probably explains why it's visited so infrequently. If you're
one of the few to make the visit, you'll surely enjoy it. You can
start off at Wrights Lake or off of Pickett Pen Road. Either way it
will be a haul.
To find the cache, go to Pearl Lake and look up on the ridge
that forms the backdrop of the lake. If you look NE to ENE, you'll
see a balancing rock on the ridgeline. That's where you'll be going
to get your bearings to the cache.
Once at the balancing rock, the cache is bearing 300 from there.
It's about 4 feet high in a scrawny Scoobert tree (that would be a
juniper for those that have done very few of my previous 199 caches
). Since it's a difficulty 4 cache,
I'm not going to tell you how far the ammo can is from the
balancing rock, but it's more than 100m and less than 200m.
Don't worry, you'll thoroughly enjoy the search while you
glance down at the lake and the granite slabs leading down to
it. Note you do NOT have to go down any sheer granite slabs to
get to the cache.
Be safe, have fun and be sure to give us a detailed description
of your well earned find
