Can You Hear Me
Now?
The above coordinates will take you to a cell
phone tower in Lone Elk Park disguised as something
else.
There are cell phone towers all around us, but we usually don't
pay much attention to them. Some towers are purposely disguised in
order to present a more pleasing view of the surrounding landscape.
Some have no visible antennas, wires, or transmitters. Do you know
a cell phone tower when you see one?
At the above coordinates you will find the cell phone tower.
Near it is a large green box with a 5-digit orange number with a
check sum of 13. You will be able to see this number from the road
and there is ample parking a few hundred feet away on the left
side. We will call these 5 digits A, B, C, D, E.
To find the coordinates to the final, ADD to the North
coordinate decimal minutes the sum of B+C+D. Your North decimal
minute check sum = 19. For the West coordinate SUBTRACT
(A+B)x(C+D+E) from the decimal minutes. Your West decimal minute
check sum = 16.
Please DO NOT post pictures of the cell phone tower. If you know
of another disguised tower, let us know in your log!
NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter
the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you
can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching
in the parks in
jeopardy. |
Special permission to hide caches in St. Louis County parks is NOT
needed as long as the Groundspeak rules are followed. "Blanket
Permission" has been worked out in advance with the park service.
DO NOT CALL THE PARK as they cannot handle the calls. The
Groundspeak cache reviewer does need to know exactly how and where
the caches are hidden and what type of containers are used. The
geocaching liaisons will notify the park service of new caches.
Remember NO AMMO BOXES or PVC PIPE
caches.
