Located in Haworth Park, Shelter #2; just on the Bellevue side of
the Missouri. There's even a convenient bridge to Iowa and I-29;
it's toll, though. Bring a dollar or two to get across and back.
There's a lot of caches in the vicinity - as well as tent and RV
camping sites.
***UPDATE***UPDATE***UPDATE***
There have been several new caches placed throughout Bellevue (8)
plus one more becasue, well, the spot was begging for a cache and I
had an extra nano.
The prize committee has announced the prizes for this greight
event!!!
There will be two (2) $10.00 gift certificates and four (4) brand
spankin' new travel bugs!!
A Geocaching Cookout with geo-friends to celebrate the crazy 8's
and the start of the summer Olympics...is geocaching an Olympic
event yet?
It's the 8-8-8 EVENT ! ! ! !
Every 1 Year, 1 Month, 1 Day, 1 Hour, 1 Minute, and 1 Second the
numbers align and make people that have a numbers fixation smile -
The next time this happens will be
soon!
Strangely enough, this date falls on a Friday night and gives us
good reason to make a Geocaching event out of it!
Ready for the fun? Come on down to Heyworth Park in Bellevue (and
there are a couple of caches right in the park area) and visit a
bit.
The grilling begins at 7 pm, and there will be no less then four
covered, indoor grills for cooking on. This is potluck, of course -
LadyCache will be providing buns and charcoal, Sioneva will be
taking care of hot dogs and maybe hamburgers. The rest is up to you
all! (Plain hot dogs are so /boring/.) If you'd like, please let us
know what you are planning on bringing...
We have an evening of fun and games so make sure you are there to
join in the 08/08/08 @ 08:08 pm event.
To start the evening, we will play a game of geogolf. As you arrive
in the park, find a spot in Heyworth Park and mark it on your GPS
as a waypoint. Then after 0808080808 has occured, we will make an
announcement of the "winning" coordinates. Whoever is closest to
the prechosen secret coordinates, wins a prize.
There will be other games too so you don't want to miss out on all
we have planned for you. Decks of cards will be provided -
conventional, and maybe we can sneak in an Uno or Skipbo deck as
well, too. There's no shortage of tables for sitting down and
playing a couple hands of your favorite card games - whatever they
may be. We'll try to print up the rules to several of the more
popular ones, for those wanting to learn a new game! The shelter's
reserved until 10 PM, or until we run out of daylight, whichever
comes first. :)
The area is wheelchair accessible but there may be rough traveling
on some of the way to the pavallion. There is a playground
nearby. Dogs are also welcomed in the park but don't forget
the necessary cleanup equipment.
Oh, if you have a battery powered alarm clock, bring that as well.
;) The more the merrier! Rumor has it there will be a few special
decks of cards... Hope to see you there! SionCache & Ladyeva
(or something like that!)
