This cache is near a bridge across the Vermilion River and I was near here on a summer day looking for a way to rent a canoe or kayak so we could explore this popular river. It's necessary to plan ahead a little more than we did, (we ended up rafting instead) but we had a great time. I hope that some of the cachers who find this cache will share some more about the river and the ins and outs of canoeing here. What I do know is that there are some challenging rapids and a potentially dangerous low head dam farther downstream. The suitability of the river for boats (and the challenge/danger level) varies with the water level. If you do canoe, kayak, or raft the river I hope you enjoy it as much or more than we did, and PLEASE do not get drunk like some of the folks we saw. I hope they all made it past the dangerous parts OK, and I did not envy them.
