The filming of Country, the movie
After receiving bad news from the FmHA, Gil (Sam Shepard) seeks
solace by turning to drink. He enters a bar (the Family Inn) and
discovers Tom McMullen (Matt Clark) talking
quietly with another man. Gil picks a fight with Tom, who storms
out of the bar, leaving his companion behind. The other man turns
out to be an auctioneer, Conrad Doan (played by himself), and Gil
finally begins to face reality and sits down to discuss putting his
farm up for auction to pay his debt.
Fairbank local, Dean French, played the bartender in this
scene.
