Beautiful views of the Crags and Mt Shasta. Lot's of wildflowers, butterfly's and dragonfly's!!!
This Lookout is on the National Register of Historic Places!
The Lookout was constructed in 1931 and used by the Forest Service until 1981. In 1997/98 it was restored to it's original character and is now being offered as an overnight retreat for personal use, normally from June through October.
If your not staying at the Lookout you will have to park at the locked gate. Walk is not quite a 1/2 mile. You are welcome to visit the Lookout but you need to ask permission to go inside by the current "renters". Be aware that there are bears in the area. Crowshoot spotted one on our stay.
Now, how to get there. Off I5 take the Soda Creek Rd., right on Riverside Rd., left on Girard Ridge Rd.,38N27, go left on road 39N13, then "Lookout" for the sign.
Please tread here lightly.
