Heading N on Route 27 from Kingfield to Carrabassett Valley, turn right onto the Carriage Road just after Tufulio's Restaurant.
Go about 6/10 of a mile up the Carriage Road and you will see a parking space, a sign and a new footbridge on your right. The sign says "Poplar Stream Falls Hut 1.8 miles, Falls via Loop Trail 1.5 miles". These trails are for non-motorized use only. You may walk or bicycle and in the winter you may ski or snowshoe. Dogs are permitted, on a leash or under voice control, except from December 1 to April 15. During that time they are permitted on the ungroomed side trails. You must clean up after them and they are not permitted in the huts for health code reasons.
Cross the new footbridge to find the cache to the left of the trail. This is a 5"x4"x5" Lock & Lock box with a theme of forest animals. There are lots of small things for children to look through and some things for adults too. There is a log, pencil and a set of TB dog tags for the FTF.
Children will enjoy the short hike, the slightly swaying bridge, the stream and the cache contents. Please cover cache completely when you are done.
