Igreja do Carmo [Faro]
Igreja do Carmo

 A Igreja da Ordem Terceira de Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo (Faro), normalmente designada de Igreja do Carmo, constitui uma das mais importantes manifestações estéticas do património religioso e artístico da região Algarvia. Foi fundada, em 1713, pelo Bispo D. António Pereira da Silva nos terrenos, até então, pertencentes à Horta de S. Pedro e inaugurada em 1719.

O Padre Frei Manuel da Conceição, arquitecto carmelita, veio de Lisboa e foi o responsável pelo risco da igreja. Nos meados do século XVIII procedeu-se ao acrescentamento do corpo da igreja, tendo-se destruído a anterior fachada. No seu lugar, a partir de 1747, foi edificado um novo espaço de grande dinamização, sendo responsável por esta obra, pela concepção do «risco» da nova fachada e pela sua execução o mestre pedreiro Diogo Tavares.
O prolongamento das obras provocou alterações no projecto: o último piso foi feito em 1775, a torre nascente nos princípios do século XIX e a outra em 1878. 

A talha foi a manifestação artística mais utilizada nesta igreja, tendo nela trabalhado os melhores escultores da região, com realce para a oficina de Manuel Martins.

Merecem ainda referência a ornamentação da sacristia, o acervo de imaginária da Procissão do Triunfo e a capela dos ossos.


 Capela dos Ossos da Igreja do Carmo: Capela de pequenas dimensões pertencente à Ordem terceira do Carmo e localizada nas traseiras da Igreja. De planta rectangular e cobertura com abóbada de berço é totalmente forrada com ossadas de um antigo cemitério da Ordem. Composição bastante regular, em bandas nos alçados interiores e em quadrícula na abóbada. Usaram-se ossos de pequena dimensão e crânios.

Destaca-se a seguinte inscrição: "Pára aqui a considerar que a este estado hás-de chegar".


 Horário de visita: De Segunda a Sexta-feira, das 10:00 às 13:00 e das 15:00 às 17:00; Sábado, das 10:00 às 13:00. A visita à Capela de Ossos custa 1€ por pessoa.
A Cache
O container a encontrar é de tamanho micro, e encontra-se bem camuflado, pelo que se solicita que após o found, a cache seja reposta exactamente no mesmo esconderijo de onde foi encontrada.
A cache não possui no seu interior qualquer lápis ou caneta, pelo que se aconselha a ir prevenido.

 CarmoChurch

The Church of the Third Order of Gosh of the Hill of Carmo (Faro), normally designated by Carmo Church, constitutes one of the most important aesthetic demonstrations of the religious and artistic inheritance of Algarve region . It was established, in 1713, by the Bishop D. António Pereira da Silva in the lands, up to that time, pertaining to the Horta of S. Pedro and inaugurated in 1719.
The Priest Frei Manuel da Conceição, Carmelite arquitect, came from Lisbon and became the person in charge for drawing the church. In the middle of the XVIII century, was proceeded the increase of the church body, but the previous front was destroyed. At his place, from 1747, a new space of great dynamic was built, being responsible for this work, for the
conception, and the "draw" of the new front and for its execution the main mason Diogo Tavares.

 The extension of the works provoked alterations in the project: the last floor was done in 1775, the nascent tower in the beginnings of the century XIX and other one in 1878. The carving was the artistic demonstration more used in this church, having worked in her the best sculptors of the region, with emphasis for the workshop of Manuel Martins.
 It still deserves a reference, the ornamentation of the sacristy, the heap of imaginary Procession of the Triumph and the bones chapel.

 The Bones Chapel of the Carmo Church:  Chapel of small dimensions pertaining to the third Order of Carmo and located in the rears of the Church. It's a rectangular plant and covering with vault of cradle it is totally covered by skeletons of an ancient cemetery of the Order. Quite regular composition, in edges on the lifted interiors and in squares on the vault. There were used bones of small dimension and skulls.
 The next inscription stands out: "Stop here thinking that this is the state you will reach".
Visit time-table: From Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 17:00; On Saturday, 10:00 to 13:00. The visit to the Bones Chapel costs 1€ for person.


 The Cache
The container to find is size micro, and it is well camouflaged, I'm asking that after the found, to put back the cache precisely in the same hiding place where it was found.
 The cache doesn’t have any pencil or pen in it, so I recommend to be prepared.
