Portmanteau, a Kehner Park Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Col Mustard: This was a unique and very difficult hide. But it's uniqueness and difficulty has lead to its demise. I noticed that cachers were finding it with ease telling me the hide had been compromised. So although the last cacher has rescued the hide, it's now so far off from the original hide, it's time to retire it. Thanks for the maintenance help, but it's done.

Geocache Description:

Portmanteau, Jabberwocky, what's it all mean?

The word portmanteau appeared in Lewis Carroll's book "Through the Looking-Glass" (1871), in which Humpty Dumpty explains to Alice the coinage of the unusual words in "Jabberwocky":

Jabberwocky is often considered to be the greatest nonsense poem written in the English language. The poem is sometimes used in primary schools to teach students about the use of portmanteau and nonsense words in poetry, as well as use of nouns and verbs.

So you might have guessed that this cache involves a portmanteau, but knowing that probably won’t help you much in searching for it. If you’re fortunate enough to find the cache, perhaps you will then know a little more about the meaning of a portmanteau, or maybe not.

Good Luck and Happy Caching.
