This cache is the first part of a two part cache in Carr Woods, The co-ordinates for the second cache (The Old Oak) are in this cache. (Unfortunately the second cache has been found by muggles so is unavailable at present, will resite it and restore as soon as possible)
Carr Woods is between Gleadless and Heeley, Sheffield. A forgotten (ancient)woodland in the heart of the city, full of a variety of deciduous trees. The Meers Brook, which flows through the northern part of Carr Wood, is of historical importance as it once formed part of the boundary between the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria. The name of the river dates from this time, 'Meer' being the Saxon word for boundary. The river continued to form part of the county boundary between Yorkshire and Derbyshire until as late as 1933.
The first cache is just off the path, will take less than an hour. A woodland walk, so in places is muddy and there are some hills, therefore proper walking footwear needed.
This is the fist cache I have placed, the co-ordinates are as accurate as possible to 30ft, due to leaf cover.
Suggested parking is at N53 21.295, W001 27.618 which will take you past the meersbrook allotments but there are many other places you can access the woods from roads circling the boundry.
