Landarbaso errekaren gainean, kareharrizko mendixka batean dauden barrunbeei deitzen zaie Landarbasoko edo Aizpitarteko kobak. Sona handiko haitzuloak dira. Hiru barrunbe horiek Errenteriako udalerrian daude. Aizpitarte deitzen hasi ziren zenbaitzuk, agian Aizpitarte mendiaren azpialdean daudelako, baina ez da zuzena, inguru horri eta haitzuloei Landarbaso deitu izan bat diete betidanik bertakoek.
Inguruko baserri batean jasoa da honako istorio harrigarri hau: Behin batean ahuntz batek ihes egin zuen Larratz baserritik, haitzuloan sartzen ikusi zuten, eta, handik hiru egunera, Aranon azaldu omen zen. Hori dela eta, bada sinesten duenik Landarbasoko haitzuloek amaiera Nafarroan dutela.
Landarbaso izango dugu inguru honetako historiaurreko gune nagusia, antzinako gure arbasoek Landarbaso gustuko bizileku zutela frogatzen baitute bai haitzuloek eta bai inguruko hainbat trikuharrik ere. Klimaren ikuspegitik baldintza oso gogorrei aurre egin behar zietenean, barrunbe horietan topatu zuten babesa. Egin diren indusketa arkeologikoetan, aurkitu dituzten aztarnarik zaharrenak goi paleolito garaikoak dira (orain dela 30,000 urtekoak). Garai haietan, beraz, gizakia bazebilen inguru horietan.
Bertara joateko autoa N43 16.014 W1 53.760 puntuan utz dezakezu, hantxe mahaiak eta Aiako Harrien Parkeko Informazio gune bat aurkituko duzu. Handik behera doan errepide batean kobazulotarako bidea markatuta badator. N43 15.745 W1 53.750 puntuan beheko bi haitzulotarako bidegurutzea aurkituko duzu. Bata (N43 15.757 W1 53.749) itxita dago, besteak (N43 15.750 W1 53.744) oso sarrera txikia izan arren oso luzea da barrutik. Bidegurutzetik zuzen jarraituz egurrezko zubi bat (N43 15.722 W1 53.727) aurkituko duzu, bertan erreka gurutzatu eta koba handira iritsiko zara.
ENGLISH
Landarbaso caves Above Landarbaso stream, there exists a few holes in the limestone of a hill. These are quite famous caves and they are located in Errenteria's lands. Some people started to called them Aizpitarte caves, because they are on the bottom of Aizpitarte mountain, however local inhabitants have always called them Landarbaso caves.
There exists a curious story: Once, a goat run away from Larratz farm, and it was seen getting into the caves. Three days later, the goat showed up in Arano. Therefore, some people believe that the end of these caves is in Navarre.
Landarbaso ids probably the main site of local prehistory. The caves and several dolmens around show that our ancestors liked this place. When climatic conditions were too hard they found protection inside the caves. The oldest signs found by archaeological explorations, belong to palaeolithic ages (30,000 years ago). So the human being was already around here.
You can park your car at N43 16.014 W1 53.760, where you'll find an information point. There is a road down that already shows signals showing the way to the caves. At N43 15.745 W1 53.750 you can cross the stream and visit the two lowest caves: one at N43 15.757 W1 53.749, which is closed, and another one at N43 15.750 W1 53.744, which has a small entrance but is very long inside. Walking up the crossroad you'll reach a wooden bridge at N43 15.722 W1 53.727. Crossing it you'll get to the biggest cave.
