This third cache takes you up the hillside to give marvelous views down to the reservoir and surrounding hills. In certain conditions the lake acts just like a shard of mirror dropped in the valley. John Wyatt, who died in 2006, was the first Lake District National Park Ranger and wrote an excellent book: 'The Shining Levels' about his early experience living in the woods of the district. It's a phrase that's stuck in my mind since reading it, and describes the lakes perfectly. See John Wyatt for more information about a remarkable man.
From the Stone Table, cross the bridge and follow the white arrows/posts to a stile onto a track. Turn right up the hill through old trees to reach some barns. The zig zags up the hillside continue, but head for the waypoint below to miss the rather long first one!
A pleasant track leads up and away from Sleddale Hall, and the views start to open out. Follow the track until it joins the high level bridleway near the cache.
