Geocache Description:

Max is proud of his grandfather's service in World War II and created this cache to honor him and other veterans, as well as the engineers and builders who created the vehicles they relied/rely on.

This small cache contains a logbook and a collection of WWII "trading cards", which we made. The cards depict United States ships, planes, and vehicles, which played an important part in the war.

Please take a card. You may leave a small trade item, preferably one with a military theme, but it is not required; we'll restock the cache with cards as needed.

In the log, please list which card you've taken. Also include the name of any friend or relative (or yourself) who has served in any branch of the armed services during wartime or peacetime. Include the branch of service, unit designation, and any other bit of info you'd like to share.

The cache is close to Max's school, but public parking and access is available from River Road Park.

Lawrence Whitman, my father/Max's grandfather, served in the 449th Bombardment Group (Heavy) of the US Army Airforce. During active duty in World War II, they were based in Grottaglie, Italy.
