Geocache Description:

[PT]

Well concealed at the bottom of the high slopes of the craggy Sesimbra's coast is the small pebbly beach of "Baleeira", which once served as a natural shelter for boats that fished nearby. You may still enjoy some remnants of this activity, like a small store in ruins at the entrance of the beach.

Indeed the seabed of this area hide incredible secrets and it's buzzing with life, being inserted now in the Marine Reserve "Professor Luis Saldanha," which covers the area from the coast of Arrábida to Cabo Espichel. Using a simple mask and snorkel you can see Wrasses, Gobies, Cameroon, Sheepsheads and Octopus, which are abundant in this inlet. If you have resources do not let this opportunity escape!

To reach Baleeira i recommend you to park the car in the provided waypoint and follow the rest of the way by foot following the dirt road that leads you close to the beach. Then you will have to descent by a small trail that begins on your right and that will take you until the sea level. You can see the recommended route in the image provided. In total the distance to be covered will be approximately 1500 meters with an altitude gap of around 150 meters, so go prepared with water, food and comfortable shoes.

I hope you enjoy this place as much as we do! Have fun and good luck!
