Walborn Reservoir, with access off Price St.(Marina), and Reeder
Rd., encompasses over 2000 acres, and provides the perfect escape
for mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers, canoeists, kayakers, and
fishermen. The Shoreline Trail's 2.5 miles offer quiet travel
through pine woods, brushlands, and oak and hickory
forests.Excellent bird watching opportunities including songbirds,
loons, great blue herons, osprey, bald eagles, and many migratory
waterfowl.
Under a cooperative agreement with the City of Alliance, the
reservoir came under the jurisdiction of the Stark County Park
District in early 1998. A new marina, boat launch and docks, and a
handicap accessible fishing pier have been built at Walborn
Reservoir. Services include boat rentals, bait & food sales,
picnic tables, modern restroom facilities, waterfowl blinds, and
fishing tourneys. The reservoir was named for Dale Walborn, the
mayor of Alliance from 1963-71, who initiated its construction.
